Exterior Waterproofing

Great Lakes Waterproofing has provided waterproofing solutions for over 30 years including exterior waterproofing for new and existing homes and business.

For existing homes we use our exclusive pumping and injection equipment to seal up your basement. With little or no digging we seal the basement up from the outside. Due to the specialized nature of the process our installers are required to complete a rigourous training course covering the basics of exterior waterproofing and ground hydrogeology.

Do you have a brand new home or building? Before the ground is backfilled Great Lakes Waterproofing will attach Volclay Sheets to the exterior, giving you the confidence of Bentonite Waterproofing

In this photo Mike is injecting under the garage floor, this basement had large amounts of water coming in from the garage side of the home.
Mike is sealing this outside wall with our bentonite injection process. Using a waterproofing blend of bentonite, Mike positions the injection equipment within one foot of the wall.
The injection wand is powered down to the footing, the strip of concrete the wall is built on, and pumping begins. See the snow in the photo? Our installers work year-round.

After injection of the hydroclay is complete, Mike moves down three feet and starts the process over again until he has completed the entire area.
Waterproofing on the outside stops the water before it gets in.
Bentonite is an all natural product that should last the lifetime of your structure.

Over time the soil around your foundation settles forming voids and channels

Water builds up in these areas under pressure pushing against the walls and footing

Unprotected concrete develops cracks and holes allowing the water to enter the basement

Using our exclusive bentonite injection system Great Lakes Waterproofing injects Hydroclay down to the footing and up to grade level

Acting like a sponge, the Hydroclay absorbs water 15+ times it's original size filling the voids and cracks forming a permanent membrane barrier

Unlike other materials which dry and become brittle, Bentonite Clay permanently stays flexible providing a self-healing barrier

Bentonite is an all green material mined in Benton Wyoming. Sometimes called hydroclay due to it's unique ability to absorb large amounts of water, this material is used for several applictions including lubrication for oil well drills, kitty litter, clarifiying white wine and of course waterproofing.
